Silver Quill Committee Positions – 2006-2007

The Committee is still in need of an Entry Manager and Judging Manager for the 2007 Awards if you would like to take on either of these roles, please contact Kim Coulter.

Silver Quill Awards Program Chair

Chair Silver Quill Awards Program and Committee, under direction of the Region Board. Oversee, coordinate and provide guidance and support for the Silver Quill planning. Approximately 5-10 hours per month November through June.

 

Benefits: High-profile position within the Region with an opportunity to drive results for one of the biggest funding programs. Manage all aspects of the committee. Exposure to members and prospects within all IABC chapters within the Region.

 

Silver Quill Marketing / Communications Manager

Includes program marketing, Web management and email marketing, brochure development and distribution, print vendor management, media relations, and continued contact with chapters across the region to encourage promotion of the Silver Quill Awards, etc. Approximately 5 -10 hours monthly, December through June.


Benefit to the volunteer: Excellent opportunity to strengthen your marketing and communications skills, working with the Silver Quill Chairperson to manage an integrated marketing communications program (online, print, etc.).

Silver Quill Entry Manager 

Receiving entries / orchestrating the collection of all entries.  Duties include data entry, sorting entries by category and working with Silver Quill Judging Manager to ensure entries are forwarded to respective judging chapters. Approximately 15 hours in March and April. Also includes data entry of awards scores, approximately 2 hours in May.


Benefit to the volunteer: Excellent opportunity to see first-hand the best practices in our profession as they come in.

Silver Quill Judging Manager

Working with other chapters and districts to secure judging commitments and ensure all requirements are communicated and judging evaluations are properly managed. This will involve fulfilling reciprocal agreements we have with other chapters and/or districts. Approximately 3-5 hours monthly; heaviest time commitment after entries have been received.


Benefit to the volunteer: Solid opportunity to network and connect with other professional communicators within IABC overall; the opportunity to get a better understanding of how the awards program works, make a difference on the effectiveness and excellence in judging that the Silver Quill Awards Program requires and deserves.

Silver Quill Awards Manager

Coordinating original and duplicate awards production. Approximately 15-20 hours after entry scoring has been finalized, with an additional 15 hours to manage duplicate award orders in late spring.


Benefit to the volunteer: High-profile exposure to members and prospects within all IABC chapters within the upper Midwest and West Coast; the opportunity to participate on the committee, but your role is confined to a certain limited time period after the entries have been judged.

 

Event Planner

Assist in planning an awards event / reception at the International conference.  Approximately 10-15 hours, primarily during May/June.  Ideally, this is a person who will be available to be onsite at the International Conference to coordinate the actual event.

 

Benefit to the volunteer:  Exposure to district and International leadership, event planning experience.
